VaultWrap Custom PVC Blend is a pelletized product which contains non-hazardous ingredients and ingredients considered hazardous in OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200. All additives are physically bound in the manufacturing process and the product is not expected to pose a hazard in normal use where appropriate measures are in place to eliminate spills or airborne product release. The product does not pose a hazard due to a release of a significant concentration of volatile organic compounds or finely divided airborne particles at ambient
temperatures.

Proper procedures for processing PVC compounds must be followed to avoid the release of fumes and vapors which may be emitted at elevated temperatures higher than 200° C/400°F. The emission of these fumes or vapors may result in exposure. Composition of these fumes or vapors may vary widely depending on the individual processing procedures and materials used.

Molten PVC compounds can cause severe burns. The combustion or overheating of PVC results in the generation of irritating and toxic vapors including hydrogen chloride, various hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, and the oxides and decomposition products thereof, i.e., carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. These vapors as well as those produced during normal processing may cause eye, skin, and respiratory tract irritation mainly due to the presence of hydrogen chloride or hydrochloric acid. Fumes generated during processing or burning may condense on cooler surfaces. This condensate may be irritating to skin, eyes, and gastrointestinal tract.

Spilled pellets of this product can be a slip hazard. Use good housekeeping to keep work areas clean and free of pellets on the floor.

Potential Health Effects

Ingestion:
Not an anticipated route of exposure.
Inhalation:
Fumes liberated at high temperatures may be irritating to the mucous membranes of the respiratory system. This can be controlled by proper ventilation.
Skin:
Thermal burns will occur if molten compound comes in contact with unprotected skin. Fumes may be irritating to the skin.
Eyes:
Fumes liberated at high temperatures may be irritating to the eyes.

Composition/Information On Ingredients

First Aid Measures

Ingestion

Wash out mouth with water. If large amounts are ingested, seek medical attention. Only induce vomiting at the instructions of a physician.

Skin Contact or Irritation:

Flush contaminated areas with water. Treat burns the same way as any other thermal burn.

Eye Contact

Flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Inhalation

Not expected under normal conditions. If exposure occurs, move person into fresh air. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.

Fire Fighting Measures

Flash Point: >600oF.
Ignition Temperature: Not applicable
Flammable Limits LEL & UEL: Not applicable.
Sensitivity to Mechanical Impact: None.
Sensitivity to Static Discharge: PVC can acquire a substantial static electrical charge.
Extinguishing Media: Water, dry chemical, carbon dioxide – air foams are acceptable.
Unusual Fire Hazard: Combustion of PVC products liberate hydrogen chloride (HCl) gas and other combustible products.
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Firefighters must wear NIOSH/MSHA approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus with full face mask and full protective clothing.
Additional Information: Use standard firefighting procedures and consider the hazards of other
involved materials.

Accidental Release Measures

Remedial Actions: In the unlikely event of an accidental spill, material may be swept, shoveled or vacuumed. Incinerate or dispose in landfill according to current local, state, and federal
regulations.

Handling & Storage

Handling: When properly handled and used with good hygiene practices in industrial applications the product is not expected to create a hazard. Appropriate engineering controls and personal protective equipment should be used to minimize contact with the product.

Storage: The material should be stored in a cool, dry location protected from extraneous heat, sparks and flame.

Exposure Controls & Personal Protection

Engineering Controls: Ensure a continuous supply of fresh air and general ventilation when working with the product.

Personal Protection: Latex gloves are recommended when handling the product. Wear safety glasses when handling the product. Respiratory protection is normally not needed with adequate ventilation.
Exposure Guidelines: Exposure limits have not been established for the VaultWrap Strip Product. General exposure limits for individual components promulgated by ACGIH and OSHA follow:
